Dr. Mauricio Reyes

Head of the Medical Image Analysis Group, ISTB

Mauricio is the head of the Medical Image Analysis Group at the ISTB, at the University of Bern (Switzerland). As as a manager, he supervises various PhD students and is responsible for setting up new projects (CTI, SNF, etc..). He is particularly experienced in image reconstruction, detection and motion compensation during Positron Emitted Tomography (PET), statistical analysis of medical images, image capture and segmentation, shape representation and modeling of soft tissues. Mauricio received his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis (France) and a Masters degree in electrical engineering from the University of Santiago (Chile).

Pedro is the founder, general manager and member of the Board of Directors of NEXThink. After having co-founded the company in 2004, he worked as a technical director until November 2007. The company located in Lausanne (Switzerland), is active in the IT sector. It provides large and medium entities disruptive behavior technology to better understand what is really happening in their corporate network. Pedro has a Masters degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Switzerland) where he worked as a researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for 2 years. In 2004, he won the Nortel Networks Award for 'Best Master Project' in Spain and is the author of two U.S. patents in the field of network security and visualization as well as several publications in international conferences.

Dr. Mihai Constantinescu

Plastic Surgeon Consultant of the Inselspital

After having completed his studies at the University of Saarland in Germany, Plastic Surgeon Mihai A. Constantinescu completed his specialty in Plastic Surgery in London (St. Thomas' Hospital, Mount Vernon Hospital), Boston (Massachusetts General Hospital) and Stuttgart (Marienhospital), before joining the team of the University Hospital Inselspital Bern as Plastic Surgeon Consultant in 2002. His interest in research began during his scholarship in Plastic Surgery at Harvard University in the U.S.. In 2009, the University of Bern appointed him Lecturer. His clinical work is focused on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery while his areas of expertise include research in laser surgery and controlled induction of tissue growth.
