Why Dr. Epstein switched to Crisalix

For nearly 20 years, I used a competing simulation product in my practice. While it was a solid tool, it had several limitations that became increasingly important in my practice. The system was not cloud-based, patient engagement was minimal, and it was not fully integrated into the consultation workflow. On top of that, mastopexy simulations were often unrealistic, which made it harder for patients to understand their likely outcomes.

The biggest challenge, however, was the lack of accuracy in volumetric estimates. That made it difficult to rely on the simulations for detailed surgical planning and patient education. What convinced me to move to Crisalix was not only the improved accuracy, but also the way it supports more advanced consultation workflows and integrates with other modern techniques.

The challenges with traditional breast simulations

Consultations were previously more limited in both precision and patient interaction. Simulations did not always give patients a realistic understanding of what their results might look like, especially in mastopexy cases. The lack of accurate volume assessment also reduced the value of the tool when discussing fine differences in implant size or breast symmetry.

This was particularly challenging when working with patients who needed a high level of clarity before committing to surgery, including patients traveling from out of town. Without a more accurate and accessible platform, virtual consultations could not deliver the same level of confidence or effectiveness.

A more transparent consultation experience

Crisalix has significantly improved the way I communicate with patients during consultations. With more realistic simulations and accurate volumetric assessments, I can provide a clearer and more trustworthy preview of expected results while visually comparing different surgical approaches, including both traditional augmentation and the PRESERVE procedure.

From a surgical planning perspective, the ability to evaluate very small differences in breast volume has been a major advantage. It helps me work more precisely, even below 30cc differences, and improve breast symmetry in a more refined way.

Making virtual consultations far more effective

Working with patients who live far away has become much more efficient. I see many patients from across the United States and Canada, and with Crisalix I can now complete almost 95 percent of the consultation process virtually, followed by a final in person examination. This has made remote consultations much more effective for both the patient and my team.

The impact on both patient engagement and business performance has been very strong. Patients are highly engaged with their simulations and often return to review them multiple times before surgery. The platform also allows me to collect feedback through a short survey before patients access their images, which gives me valuable insight into the quality of each consultation.

Most importantly, consultation closure rates have improved dramatically, especially for virtual consultations. Patients better understand their options, their expectations are more aligned with what surgery can realistically achieve, and they feel more confident moving forward. For me, that has created a clear benefit not only in workflow and communication, but also in financial results.
